Adaptation
This body of work explores the emotional and psychological dimensions of migration and displacement. Through a series of images, I attempt to convey the complexity of this experience—its vulnerability, uncertainty, and quiet resilience.
The floating paper boats serve as symbols of transience and fragility. Made from a delicate material, they reflect the precarious journeys migrants undertake—drifting, pausing, and navigating unfamiliar terrain. Their presence suggests a deep connection to nature and movement, echoing the rhythm of migration itself.
In contrast, black-and-white photographs depict the stark realities often faced along these journeys: hardship, isolation, and endurance. Accompanying the images is a sculpture composed of plug adapters from various countries. On a practical level, it points to the everyday logistics of life in transition. On a symbolic level, it speaks to deeper struggles -cultural dislocation, the challenge of adaptation, and the search for belonging.
These humble objects aim to function as metaphors for the refugee experience. They represent not only what is lost, but also what is carried forward: resilience, memory, and identity. This project is a quiet meditation on displacement - on leaving home, facing the unknown, and continuing forward with strength and grace.
